Are you Rapture Ready? - Part 2

There is no doubting that the Rapture will be a glorious, indescribably experience – when finally, we meet our Maker and are caught up with Him.

I believe that no matter how spectacular we’ve dreamt this catching up to be – it will far exceed that.

But what is in store for us, as Christians, the day after the Rapture?

Well, we can certainly agree that worship around the throne of God will be the chief activity – we will be in heaven, the most perfect place, where we will experience the most indescribable degree of joy and satisfaction.

But what about those who are left behind? What about those who weren’t ready for the rapture, and missed it?

What will they experience, the day after the Rapture?

Fortunately, the Bible doesn’t leave us in the dark on this subject. In fact, the scriptures are very clear to let us know for certain what will happen.

That’s why, in this article, I’m going to let the Bible talk. We’ll go through about 7 years’ worth of tribulation, in approximately 15 minutes of reading.

Note: If you are one of our readers who are lost, or uncertain about whether you’ll make the rapture or not – perhaps someone who loves you very much sent you this article out of concern, or perhaps you’re reading it because you want to see what this ‘left behind stuff’ is all about – well, regardless of the reason, you should keep reading.

These verses may make you feel rather uncomfortable, but, it’s important that you know what lies ahead. Actually, your life depends on it.

As you read this article, may you become prepared for the Lord’s return. To be honest, this article is not only to show you what’s to come, but it can “comfort the afflicted” and at the same time, “afflict the comfortable”.

⁷“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. ⁸And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

⁹The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, ¹⁰and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, ¹²that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

2 Thessalonians 2:7-12 (NKJV)

Now let’s dive right into the meat of this…

Revelation 4-5 tells us what will happen after the rapture for those who are saved.

But Revelation 6 onwards tells us what will happen to the lost, and those who are left behind. This is known as the “Tribulation Period” which will last for 7 years.

In chapter 6, the scene now shifts from the saved in heaven to those left behind, here on the earth.

Today I’m going try and summarise this to the best of my ability – again, these are things which will take place over a period of 7 years – but we will be covering 3 topics, which are:

the 7 seals
the 7 trumpets
the 7 bowls

The Seven Seals

1^st Seal: The Conqueror

The White Horse

“Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.” ²And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.”

Revelation 6:1-2 (NKJV)

When the first seal is opened, we see the beginning of what will happen during the first 3 ½ years of the Tribulation Period under the coming world ruler.

Someone will come on the scene as the “saviour of the world” riding a white horse. He’s going to promise to solve all of the world’s problems, bring peace, prosperity and unity to all of mankind.

I’m sure the world will be in chaos for a while, because of the rapture. When people are suddenly caught up, there will be crashing cars, planes falling from the sky, and people will completely disappear without a trace. This may be blamed on a terrorist attack, or weapons of mass destruction.

Someone will come and offer peace, but we have to notice that scripture says he has a “bow” but no arrows. This is because it’s a false peace. He’s a master politician – the Anti-Christ. No one will realise his true identity until he reveals himself 3 ½ years later.

In Daniel 8 & 11, we are told that he will make a treaty with Israel, giving them permission and provision to build their Temple. He will assure peace for Israel, and will rise to power with the help of the religious apostate church that is left behind.

2^nd Seal: Conflict on Earth

The Red Horse

“When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.” ⁴Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.”

Revelation 6:3-4 (NKJV)

There will be fluctuating war and peace for 3 ½ years, and then, in the middle of the Tribulation Period, the peace will suddenly be over. The red horse in this verse resembles war, bloodshed and persecution. The Anti-Christ will be revealed for who he really is, and then there will be Great Tribulation, like the world has never seen before. It will make World War 1 and 2, Vietnam & Iraq seem like Disney World.

“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.”

Matthew 24:21 (NKJV)

3^rd Seal: Scarcity on Earth

The Black Horse

“When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scalesin his hand. ⁶And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”

Revelation 6:5-6 (NKJV)

This third seal will bring inflation and famine. The “black horse” depicts mourning and starvation, and the balance speaks of the scarcity of food. Food will have to be rationed, but you must have the right number – Revelation 13:16-18.

You won’t be able to support your family on your wages. Even if you could buy food, the False Prophet is the one who distributes it, and you must have the “mark of the beast”. If you take his mark, you are guaranteed to end up in hell. But, without the mark, you will starve to death.

4^th Seal: Widespread Death on Earth

The Pale Horse

“When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” ⁸So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.”

Revelation 6:7-8 (NKJV)

In the Greek, it’s a ‘pale greenish-yellow’. This represents death, epidemics, famine, pestilence. Those left behind will see wild beasts being released on the earth, and ¼ of the population on the earth will die – and even the rich won’t be spared. There will be weapons of mass destruction, a nuclear fallout, poisoned water and more…

5^th Seal: The Cry of the Martyrs

“When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. ¹⁰And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” ¹¹Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.”

6^th Seal: Cosmic Disturbances

“I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. ¹³And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. ¹⁴Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. ¹⁵And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, ¹⁶and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! ¹⁷For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

Revelation 6:12-17 (NKJV)

Until now, everyone could explain the diseases, famines and inflation, but only God can control the forces of nature, yet there will be meteorites, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and utter darkness. Verse 14 even seems to describe an atomic blast.

7^th Seal: Prelude to the Seven Trumpets

“When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.”

Revelation 8:1 (NKJV)

This “silence” is like that which you experience in a courtroom when a judge enters to sentence the condemned criminal. The 7 trumpet judgments are about to be given, by the 7 angels. Here, time is given for those on earth to think about God’s judgment. Heaven stands speechless & spellbound for ½ hour. Something terrible is about to happen on earth. Revelation 8:2,6

This depicts in great detail what will take place after the rapture, and what will be endured by those who are left behind.
