8 DANGERS YOU WILL SUFFER FOR THE ANOINTING - PART 1

Have you ever questioned God’s protection in your life, when all you see waging against you are storms, which seem to be wreaking havoc?

“Lord, if you are really with me, then why is this happening to me?” Why am I going through this?”

Do any of those desperate pleas sound familiar to you?

I always say that the anointing will cost you everything. It is solely up to you whether you would be willing to commit to paying the price for it or not.

Many are quick to say “yes” without hesitation, but the moment they are faced with a crisis, the first thing that they do is they begin to doubt God, and then start to question His presence in their lives.

Our adversary, the devil, does not fight fair. One of his weapons of choice is to plant thoughts in the minds of believers, causing you to doubt the Word of God and His promises concerning your life. In fact, the devil will even create situations in the natural that is contrary to what God has said. Amidst these circumstances, how will you respond?

This is an age-old strategy that the enemy has been using since the beginning of time, and when believers fail to discern these attacks, it can ultimately cause their demise.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;

 We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

 Romans 8:35-36 (NKJV)

In the above scripture, Paul makes mention of the things that cannot separate us from the love of Christ, one of them being perils.

What is a Peril?

The Greek word for Peril is “kindunos” which means danger. Whenever you face a peril, you are facing something dangerous.

Paul further indicates in 2 Corinthians 11:26 the eight perils that we will face as believers.

26 in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

Of the eight perils that we will face as believers, I will be revealing four in this article. These are,

Perils of Water

The word water in the above scripture is the Greek word “potamōs” which means rivers, floods or torrents.

Now there is a physical and spiritual aspect regarding this. Understand that when the enemy sends a peril into your life, he is not just attacking your body but also your mind.

1. In the Natural:

The enemy will use even nature to come against the anointing upon your life.

For example, you might be running a big crusade, and all of a sudden a massive storm breaks with floods on all sides preventing people from making it to the crusade.

The enemy does this to frustrate your plans until you reach a point where you finally give up.

1. In the Spiritual:

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.”

Luke 6:46-49 (NIV)

The above passage of scripture tells us what happens when we are struck by torrents and floods. The enemies plan is to hit you from every side with these spiritual floods to cause doubt, fear and worry in a believers life. Satan knows that if he can do this, you will experience anxiety, irritation and frustration until you finally give up. 

These spiritual torrents are designed to steer you off course, and to try inhibit you from reaching your spiritual destination. They are designed to cause doubt in God and in His Word, and when we fail to recognise this peril, it can ultimately destroy us.

God gives us a powerful promise when it comes to dealing with perils in water:

 2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you”.

 Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV)

 In the face of adversity, we maintain a confession.

2.   Perils of Robbers

Paul was saying that robbers would plan to steal from him, not for the purpose of stripping him from his material things, but rather to frustrate him. Their aim was to cause him mental anguish and distress.

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.

John 10:10 (NKJV)

The enemy wants to cause you mental harm in order to distract you and rob you from your calling.

This is where the enemy steals your time by flooding your mind with suggestions and thoughts like:

“Why is this happening to me?”

“Lord, if you are with me, then why am I going through this”

The moment you overthink something for weeks, it will begin to consume your thoughts and form a stronghold in your mind. This distraction can be so great that you can lose years not advancing towards your calling.

1. Perils of my own Countrymen

The Greek word for countryman is the same as the word used for ancestry. When you come from the same ancestors, it means you come from the same country.

The enemy knows that if he uses someone from your own country to come up against you, it will cause you much pain. This happened even to Jesus.

11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

John 1:11 NKJV

It is a very serious thing when the devil uses a countryman as a peril. Often it will come through a man or even through a certain system of that country.

You will face the greatest resistance from those closest to you the moment you make the decision to fulfil the call of God that is upon your life.

36 and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’

 Matthew 10:36 NKJV

1. Perils of the Gentiles (“Heathen” in KJV)

The word Heathen here comes from the Greek word ethnōs which means earthly people, people of the world. Pagans are those people that have nothing to do with your religion.

The Gentiles didn’t look at Paul as a man of God, they saw Paul as a scammer, as someone they needed to arrest and as someone they must kill, as many believers are being viewed by the world today. He was in fact arrested several times by those that wanted nothing to do with God. This was a great Peril that Paul endured.

The best way to handle these types of Gentiles is with a testimony. You will silence your critics with a testimony.

The Bible says that love covers a multitude of sins, and therefore as ambassadors of Christ, it is of the utmost importance that we maintain that confession.

How does this translate to you, as a Believer?

As a Prophet, God has been warning me since early 2019 of the perils and persecution which the enemy is plotting, and we have been preparing for the attacks which many around the World only began to realise within this year.

I want to remind you that God’s hand is upon the Church, His Beloved and all those who choose to remain steadfast in the face of persecution shall be protected!

Do not lose confidence. In the face of adversary, stay focused on the call and purpose that God has set before you.

The tables will turn… do not lose heart!
